North Brooklyn Psychotherapy Associates (NBPA) is a group practice founded by Andrew Zimmerman in 2015. NBPA offers the residents of North Brooklyn and its surrounding communities access to high quality, affordable counseling for individual adults, adolescents and couples. NBPA’s therapists are a diverse and caring group of highly trained clinical social workers who are committed to helping their clients achieve their mental health goals. NBPA strives to respond to the needs of everyone in its community by providing therapy services that are both financially accessible and attuned to the needs of the vibrant and diverse members of our community including long-time residents, creatives, professionals, students, and members of the LGBTQ community.

NBPA is in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Cigna insurance plans and offers assistance in utilizing out-of-network benefits for clients covered by other insurance providers. For those without insurance, a sliding scale rate may be discussed in an effort to provide services that fit within a prescribed budget.

"The richest and fullest lives attempt to achieve an inner balance between three realms: work, love and play."

- Erik Erikson

Many individuals seek therapy because they are looking for balance in their lives, but have yet to find it. Others suffer in one area of their lives, and as a result cannot enjoy their successes. Our counseling sessions have at their foundation the goal of helping each individual live their fullest and most meaningful lives. We aim to help each person hone and develop skills for improving relationships, find new ways to cope with stress and anxiety, rediscover joy and pleasure in their lives, break negative and self-destructive patterns, increase career satisfaction, and find a stronger sense of self and personal worth.

TESTIMONIALS

Andrew has been extremely helpful in my efforts to heal and strengthen myself. He has a highly-intuitive and intellectual approach to resolving negative thought patterns and identifying behaviors, most of which I was not even aware of myself. Andrew is an extremely easy person to talk to and be around, welcoming uncomfortable, yet necessary and healing conversations. I have never felt judged or embarrassed about anything I have confided in him. He is very smart, kind, and a strong listener. I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking therapy, or a caring, listening ear.

April was amazing and made me feel very comfortable.  I intend on seeing her more to help further my progress and succeed in my therapy goals. So satisfied with the therapy I received!

Anabella provided wonderful, caring, non-judgmental yet honest therapy. Made me feel extremely comfortable from the very beginning until the very end.

Ms. Murray helped me through a challenging time. She was an excellent listener and very insightful with her analysis. The actions she suggested were spot on and helped me tremendously.

Andrew was very nice. Even before coming to my first appointment he personally emailed me and my insurance was verified. I thought that Andrew had a very nice office, clean, happy flowers and a comfortable couch. He was very good at scheduling me in and making room for me for future appointments.
